Greek Epics: Clash of the Titans

We have learned in class that one of the purposes of the Greek epics was to show the heroism of man and how he could perform incredible acts of bravery with little help from the gods. Even when gods provide advice or weapons, the acts must be committed by humans in the end. The epics showed how Greeks valued man, deeds, and his spirit. Although, the Greeks worshipped the gods, we see the emergence of the worship of man as well.

How do you see this reflected in the movie viewed in class, Clash of the Titans (2010)? When forming your answer make sure to address the following:

1. The purpose of epics
2.  How the purpose of epics are reflected in the movie
3.  Two details to support your answer
4.  Convey how Greece, given it is the "Cradle of Western Civilization", can be said to begin the worship of man. ***Clue: cultural diffusion*** Give at least one reason to support your answer.

  1. In the movie clash of the titans we see worshiping of man when Zeus son saves the town from the kraken sent by Hades. Even though he receives help from his father by the gift of the sword and Pegasus, his bravery and strength helps him overcome the obstacles he faced. The Greeks worshiped the gods, but man were starting to emerge and be worshiped to. For example, in the movie the witches told the son of Zeus he was going to die,but he went and kilt the lady that had snakes in her head. This movie also showed the bravery of man by letting them go into the underworld without having any fear of what they were about to face. Gods didn't really help them on the way to defeat the kraken. The men showed that they could do things without the gods help. The son of Zeus wanted revenge against Hades for killing his family, but later on he found out he was a demi-god. This gave the humans faith that they could do things on their own now.
The purpose of epics is to show the things man can do without the gods. Also the purpose of epics are to give men hope that they can accomplish things by themselves. The purpose of epics is reflected in this movie by-letting a man do the impossible and defeat something that the gods even feared. The son of Zeus did the impossible and defeated the kraken without his bravery the whole town and the princess would have died. For example, when they went into the underworld knowing that the women good turn them into stone took a lot of bravery. Also the purpose of epics is reflected by letting a man defeat overcome what the witches said and have faith that he will not die.
Greece probably will start to worship man because of what the son of Zeus did. The humans will worship him because of what they just saw him do and they will think of him as a god. Many humans will start to follow the path that the son of Zeus did and deny the gods. In my opinion, the gods allowed this to happen by caring too much for the people. This reminds me of cultural diffusion because this will spread very quickly and man will start to think they don't need the gods. I say this because in the movie man already had gained too much power and cut down the statue of Zeus. This leads me to believe now they will believe they can do things without the gods just like the son of Zeus did.

The purpose of these epics is to show how people can do things with the help of the gods. In Clash of The Titans this was displayed. Perseus, Zeus' son, didn't rely on his father for any help at all because of what Hades, Zeus' brother and God of the Underworld, did to his family. Perseus continued to fight and live his life as a man. Because of Perseus' bravery act of killing the Kraken, creature created by Hades, and protecting the people around him, people gave him praise because he did it as a man and not as the son of a god.
With Perseus living the life that he lives, he gives hope to all of the people of Greece that they can do things without the gods help. Showing that he pursues to live as man shows love for the people and the things that they do, and he will continue to show bravery as a man without the gods help.

In the movie clash of the titans we see worshiping of man when Zeus’ son Perseus goes through a long and hard journey trying to save the town of Arques, from the Kraken that Hades sent upon them. Perseus accomplishes his journey with little help from Zeus, Zeus tried to help although he thought Perseus and his men were going to fail, Perseus didn’t let his father Zeus kill his “vibe”. Although Perseus had help from Zeus by receiving the sword and the Pegasus. Perseus is worshipped by man because they recognized his story of bravery and strength. For example from the movie Zeus tried to give Perseus a “gate way” to stay with the gods up in the temples and offered him a powerful sword. Another example is when the witches tried to warn Perseus that he would die trying to kill Medusa. The purpose of epics are to tell the story of how a man, or demi-god that claimed to be nothing more than man could save a whole town/land with little help from the gods. Greece was the “Cradle of Western Civilization” because they started the writings of epics with man accomplishing big feats without the gods. I know this because of lessons in class and notes in my notebook.

  4. The purpose of the Greek epics are to show the bravery of man without the the help of the gods. This is reflected in the movie, “Clash of the Titans”, because Perseus defeated Hades with little help from the gods. The only help Perseus received was a sword and Pegasus from Zeus. Perseus lead his men into the underworld to kill Medusa and use her head to kill the Kraken and save everyone in Argos. Perseus also showed his bravery when he killed Acrisius. Perseus used his fighting skills and a sword from Zeus to kill Acrisius. Also Perseus showed that he didn't need the gods to help him because in the movie Zeus gives Perseus a sword but he refused to use it. When Draco tells him that it is a gift from Zeus and tries to give him the sword, Perseus said he would rather do this journey as a man. This shows that Perseus believed in his bravery and that he didn't need the gods to help him through his journey.

Greece is given the “Cradle of Western Civilization” and can be said to begin the worship of man because 2,500 years ago, western ideas were “born”. This means that when the Greeks traded they found new ideas and brought them back to Greece. Also when Greece went to fight and they won, they probably enslaved the remaining soldiers. This is where direct diffusion comes into play. Direct cultural diffusion is when you come in direct contact with a person of another culture and the both of you share ideas. This could have been a key part in the beginning of the worship of man. For example, the Greeks could have traded with a civilization who believes in worshipping man.

    12-14-2016 Clash of the titans

In the movie, Hades was the one who was the antagonist was, and he was the person that no one liked. When hades came, he demanded a sacrifice of the princes. In the movie, lots of the people came together to celebrate their hatred of the gods, but they also had the unknown hero, Perseus, who also had the blood of a god. Perseus was a man lost in the big world, who really had no reason to live. He hated that he had the blood of a god in him, he was a mere man. In the greek epics, the defeat were the gods work, but in the movie, man was victorious. In the, movie, people did worship the gods some, but in the real epics, the gods ruled the people's world which is not the case in the movie. For example, in the media selection, perseus was the only person that could save the princess from the kracken, so then he set out on a journey to do whatever it took to save her. Also the god were upset by the person that compared her daughter to aphrodite, tho loveliest god out there. The rise of men sure is something to think about, but when some man is destined to do something for their people like perseus, man is someone who really served their purpose on this earth. All in all, the gods are the real one to thank, after all, they are the way man came to be.

  6. In the movie Clash of the Titans I saw that the purpose of the myth was to show heroism in man with little help from the gods.Perseus accomplished this goal by defeating Medusa, Acrisius, and the Kraken. Throughout the movie Perseus wanted to do things as a man without any help from the gods. The only help Perseus received was the sword and pegasus. This proved that although he was part god/man he could show bravery and heroism. In the beginning of the media selection the people worshiped the gods, but towards the middle they emerged.

I saw the emergence that took place began from when the group of people from Argos destroyed a statue of Zeus. After that there was a celebration of the returning of soldiers. Queen Cassiopeia and King Cepheus talked. The queen's speech was about comparing the gods to the beauty of her daughter. This showed that the people no longer felt that they should only worship gods, but people as well. Soon after this Perseus decided to set out on a mission to kill Hades.

After Perseus defeated all the people he did,the people wanted him to be king and Zeus offered to make him a god Olympus. This showed that the gods and humans saw the emergence of worshiping man. They realized Perseus was a good leader with bravery and heroism. Cultural diffusion is another thing that I saw in the story. Perseus's mother was a human and his father was a god. This is an example of Cultural Diffusion.Western Culture is a civilization of heritage, ethical values, traditional customs, and political systems. Since this is what Western Culture is it is shown through the selection because I saw how Perseus showed his man characteristics, although he was a god.

  7. The purpose of epics are to show how man heroically conquered adventures without hardly any help from the gods. The purpose of epics is reflected in the movie because the hero, Perseus heroically conquers his adventure to stop the Kraken with little help from the gods. Another example, is that Perseus and his team defeated the beasts that stood in their way without much help from the gods. Greece could've started the worship of man by worshipping their kings and queens. Then cultural diffusion began to spread the idea over the world. I think this happened because the Greeks thought their idea was good and they wanted people to experience it by spreading their idea over the world.

  8. The purpose of the epics are to explain how man can do things without the gods. This is reflected in the movie when Perseus kills Medusa and the Kracken that is trying to kill Andromeda. In the movie Perseus is trying to defeat the Kracken Hades has sent to kill Andromeda. In doing so, he is showing he can fight on his own when he defeats Medusa (by chopping off her head) and turns the Kracken into stone with the eyes of Medusa's head. These two heroic acts did not involve the gods, but only a few soldiers(brought to teach and help Perseus) and Perseus. On the other hand Perseus did have his trials during these times in which he was on his way to get Medusa's head. For example, when he was told he was gonna die by the witches or when Hades sent his side kick to hurt Perseus during his mission. Thankfully Perseus did not let these two problems stop him from going on. Like when the two hunters that wanted to go so bad got scared and ran away so they wouldn't go in Medusa's place or when all the rest of his soldiers he had left died in Medusa's place. He kept fighting and moving forward to keep the princess and Greece itself safe. This is why I say the purpose of the epics are to show the gods are not needed or used in every heroic action.
Greece can be said to be the beginning worship of man because of the heroic acts of Perseus and other people the epics are about. Greece is the first known country to have man do something without the help of the gods. This shows that man, meaning the people, don't always need the gods to do things. For example, in the movie the god Hades stated that the other gods needed the worship of the people to actually survive. What I am trying to say is the gods sometimes need the humans and the humans sometimes need the gods. This is why I say that Greece can be said to be the beginning of the worship of man.

Epics are poems or stories that derived from ancient oral traditions. Epics can show the adventures of people or advances. They also can have humorous or painful ways of teaching moral lessons. But, epics can also show man’s adventures and victories with the god/gods. Sometimes the gods can provide ways or counter offers to man, but man does not always accept these bribes and offers. Epics can prove how strong man is without the gods. It can also cause uprisings or riots to the gods. This was proven correct in the movie “Clash of the Titans”.
The purpose of epics were seen throughout this movie. The son of Zeus had his family killed by Hades. Perseus wanted revenge because of what Hades did. He decided that he was going to put an end to Hades mad and twisted ways. Perseus would end up stopping Andromeda from dying and sent Hades back to the underworld without the help of a god. Man had won and conquered without the help of Zeus or any other god. The refusal to use the gods and pray and worship them were shown as well.
Around the middle of the movie, Zeus appeared to Perseus while he was in his way to Madusa. Zeus asked him to stop and come join him in Mt. Olympus. Perseus refused to go. This was one of the bribes shown in the movie. Earlier in the story, Zeus sent a sword down to Perseus to help him. He refused to use the sword. He wanted to Win and conquer without the gods. Also, Perseus got hurt and one of the soldiers told him to pray to his father,Zeus. And again, he refused to do so.
In this movie, the queen would make a statement saying that humans should worship man instead of gods. Also, Zeus, in the end, admitted that soon, man will kneel down to perseus who is a man. These 2 incidents show that eventually, Greece can be said to begin the worship of man. Man soon will worship Perseus for his heroic feat without the gods. Also, other places in the western part of the world sees these things. This concept of man without god spread quickly. This would be the cultural diffusion the Greece has started. This is probably why they are know as the "Cradle of Western Civilization".

Gods vs. Man is the big rivalry in the movie ,Clash of the Titans .We learn all about how man’s bravery went up against the gods’ power. In the video we learned how man wanted just to have a little power in the world of gods.Clash of the Titans really reflected the behavior of man.The movie was an example of the Greek’s epics. The purpose of epics is to show the the intelligence and bravery of man.The epics show how strong man can be without the help of the gods. The purpose of epics were reflected in Clash of the titans because it told the same message. In the movie Perseus ,the son Zeus, went on this journey to kill the Kraken without the help of the gods. Perseus wanted nothing to do with the gods, nothing to do with his father. The purpose of epics was shown in the movie because Perseus defeated the kraken as a man. Perseus fought as a man to defeat his battles ,he showed that man can also be powerful. Perseus showed how intelligence and bravery plays a big role in fighting. Perseus had the chance to go be on the council with the gods ,but he knew thats not what he wanted. He knew that he could beat the power of Hades by just being a man.In the video Perseus thought out all of his decision when fighting because he knew that intelligence would help him win ,not being part god.

All ideas come from somewhere or someone. All ideas start from one person or a small group of people.Once an idea comes a reality it branches out.Greece is “The Cradle of Western Civilization”.Being the “The Cradle of Western Civilization” means that was were a lot of ideas were created.A lot of the ideas that we use today were created in Greece. The idea of worshiping man could have began in Greece because they like to accept new ideas and concepts.Once people show how strong man was they could have began to worship them.Since Greece is “The Cradle of Western Civilization” the idea of worshiping could have started there because they like trying new things.Greece could be considered the beginning of worshiping man because of the heroic acts that happened in their civilization and epics. In the movie Perseus acted as an hero in the way that he beat the kraken for the people. When he did that for the people he was soon to be forever worshiped. The idea of worshiping man could have spread through cultural diffusion. The idea of worshiping man came from Greece and heroic acts of man.In the video Zeus said to Perseus that because he showed signs of an hero ,he will be worshiped as a god being the man he is.

Clash of the Titans is about how powerful man is.The movie shows what the Greeks valued which is intelligence and bravery. No matter how strong the gods were ,man wanted to rise above that. The people of Greece wanted to let the gods know that we appreciate y'all ,but we can take care of our lives. The people really just wanted the respect of the gods. While watching the movie, I realized that sometimes having no power is ones greatest strength.Clash of the Titans showed man at its greatest state. The movie showed the gods’ weakness.Overall the movie showed how man sticks with man.How man can use intelligence and motivation of others to overcome any obstacle.

The purpose of epics in Greece were to show how man can triumph without the help of gods. Especially in the movie Clash of the Titans. In the movie, Perseus (the son of Zeus) is seeking revenge on Hades for killing who he thought to be his father. Perseus finds out that Hades is releasing the Kracken and the only way to seek his vengeance is to kill the Kracken. And the only way to do that is to chop off Medusa’s head. So Perseus goes on a mission with only humans to prove a point to the gods that “man” can triumph without the help of the gods.
Along of the way, Perseus is given a gift from his father, Zeus. A sword stronger than any other sword, which is the only sword strong enough to kill the beast Hades sent after him. At first, Perseus doesn’t come anywhere close to think of even using the sword because he wants to do it all by the help of “man”. Zeus also sent him another present, which was a Pegasus. This time he accepted the gift given by his father, probably because there was no way he could make it back to Argos on foot. Either way it went Perseus did the majority of it by the help of “man”. In conclusion, it’s Perseus who changes the viewpoint of the citizens, which was we can’t triumph without the gods.
I believe that Perseus started the “worship of man”. Perseus opened the eyes of the people and told them Gods aren’t the only ones who can triumph in the most fascinating ways. And the people of Greece started praising him not only for saving their lives but his heroic actions as well. Since Greece was such a known and influential place at the time. The act of worshiping a man like a god started to get passed around . For example the Egyptians treat their Pharaohs like gods.

  12. The purpose of epics are stories to show how men accomplished many great and dangerous adventures without the help of the gods. The purpose of epics are reflected in this movie because the main character and hero, Perseus, saved the city of Argos. Perseus achieved many great heights in this movie. Such as killing Medusa, which no man has been able to succeed as in death for failure. Another example is Perseus killing the kraken. The kraken is even feared by the gods and has beaten the titans before, which are the parents of Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon. Greece is given the “Cradle of Western Civilization” and can be said to begin the worship of men because they came up with new ideas about how to do things around Greece. This quickly spreads around the world as more civilizations had grew fund of this new way of life Greece provided.

  14. The purpose of epics are to show gods what man can do without their help. Gods think that man are weak and need them to do everything for them. That's why they expect man to worship them. In the movie, some men were cutting down the statue of Zeus and plunged it into the ocean. Men really didn't worship him because of the way he treated them. Based on the movie, the purpose of epics were to save everyone and to show what man did. For example, when Perseus and the leader of the military were going against Medusa, the leader said "Show them what man did" then he turned into stone.
Perseus ended up slashing the head off Medusa, and he did it without the gods. Another example is when Perseus slashed the head off of the "Krackin" and saved everyone and the Andromeda from Hades, he even saved the gods. Greece can be said to be the worship of men because of the way the gods were claiming and expecting worship in the movie. In the movie, Hades asked Zeus why did he create the humans. This shows that Zeus might have created humans for us to give him love and worship. Also in the movie, Zeus did admit we were made so that he can feel special.

  15. An epic is a story telling the bravery, and heroism of a man. Also serves as an important purpose in explaining the past. Many other purposes of epics is to develop and nurture a sense of pride in one’s people, an ancient person/thing that comes before another of the same kind to the modern belief of nationalism. A story can emphasize the admirable characteristics of one’s people more effectively than other means might. I think that not many people had the time to read a really long time to actually read books, unless they were literate. An epic however can spread widely to others effectively orally, a poem always sticks better than a good story from history.

Ancient writers, journalists, and storytellers have the same impulse we have today, to just create stories. With epics being legendary, it grabs a person's attention because people are dragged to more “fictional” poems/stories. I say this because people want to get out of reality, and have a break into a different world. The purpose of epics is reflected in the movie because it was about a hero. Perseus, being the son of a god didn’t want help from his father. He wanted to do it alone, and be independent, which he basically did. He saved the princess with very little help of his father Zeus. Which is exactly what an epic tells.

Being on the more literal side, epic means something was impressive or remarkable. Which i can also see in the movie because Perseus was doing anything he could, to save the princess. For example, he fought Medusa not caring that the witches said he was going to die. He was not afraid of anything, and didn’t let anything get in his way. This is an example of an outstanding character, epic. Basically though epics, are that. They tell remarkable stories, about outstanding heroes In history. Though it was the ultimate struggle for Perseus, he showed that dangerous was his middle name.

This is said to begin the worship of man because in the movie, Perseus didn’t care about being the son of a god. He didn’t care about the help of the gods. He used the help of the other soldiers, and refused to fight as a god. The gods are not the only ones who can achieve what they want. Maybe at first Greece may have doubted him. Now that Perseus has proven that if he can achieve something that dangerous without them worshipping the gods. The people open their eyes that the gods should be the ones worshipping the mortals. Without the mortals, they are useless. With Greece being in such highly position they are, others will do the same as the Greeks. I say this because people do what the higher leveled people do. They follow the success, so they can achieve success also.

  16. In the movie, Clash of Titans, we see the emergence of worship of man through Perseus. Perseus being the son of Zeus is half man and half god. Since he isn't completely god many people doubted that he could save Andromeda and didn't have much faith in him. After he manages to save her with some help from the gods, people start changing their views on this. This leads them to realize that humans can do what gods can if they have some help . At the end of the movie, Zeus tells Perseus that even if he doesn't want to man will start worshiping him for the amazing tasks he has done. This shows the emergence of worship of man because gods are starting to realize that humans are cable of being worshiped. Worship of man is also shown when they start believing that Perseus will save them and when they start having hope that he will. This also leads to the purpose of epics. The purpose of epics is to to show that man can do what gods can if they worship them and respect them. These epics show that gods and humans are equal in a way and anything is possible if you believe it is. This gives hope to people and encourages them to not give up.

The purpose of epics is reflected throughout the movie. For example, it is reflected when Zeus gives Perseus a sword, a coin, and the Pegasus. Zeus gives him all this to help him defeat the Kraken so that he could save Argos. This tells us that Perseus believed in the gods enough for them to help him or that the gods had a change of heart. Either way you can tell that things are starting to change. Greece can be said to began the worship of man because Perseus started it and he was Greek. His determination and bravery make him a good person to respect and worship. He broke the generalization that you have to be a god in order to be worthy of being worshiped. He saved Argos which made him a good person to worship since he he wasn't completely god. This gave hope to humans now that they knew that you could still do great things like save lives and you didn't have to be a god. His great deed inspired many people to do other great things and made him a good candidate to worship.

  18. In the movie, Perseus, the Demi god, proves that you don't have to be a full god in order to to be worshipped. Perseus saves Andromeda despite the fact that he isn't a full god. This gives more reason to believe humans can and should be worshipped. Some believed Perseus wouldn't be able to complete the task just because he is a Demi god. His father, Zeus, came down, gave his son some enlightening words of encouragement, a weapon and Perseus continued on his journey to save Andromeda.
He proved those who doubted him wrong. Perseus was able to save Andromeda. The purpose of epics were represented in Clash of Titans when Perseus saved Andromeda. An epic is a piece of writing that proves humans can accomplish things with little to no help of the gods. For example, Perseus saved Andromeda with no help from any gods. He was all on his own and reached his set goal of rescuing her. He did this by closing his eyes and cutting off the head of Medusa.
Once he got back to where the kraken was he pointed the head at the kraken and it turned into stone. This meant that Andromeda was now safe from from it. Another example of how epics are represented in this movie is when Perseus defeated Medusa. Even though he had people distract her, he physically cut her head off own his own.

  19. The purpose of an epic is to tell the story of a fallen legend or things that happen during that time period. The purpose of an epic is relaTed in the movie because the epic shows us how the people worshipped the gods during that time period. For example, perseus and his fellow friends worship the gods. Also the people of Argos worshiped all the gods inclouding Hades. This is represented as an epic because the Greek godso story will live forever.
This is showing cultural diffusion because they have different ideas flowing into there systems.. For example, they wouldn't have the ideas of God's without people influencing themy to believe in the. Also when the Olympics come around they exchange ideas when the gamessage come around

Greek epics were told to show how man could show bravery and courage in spite of the little help from the gods. In Clash of the Titans, Perseus was the demi god that was destined to save the city of Argos, but he was criticized and discouraged because he wasn’t a full god. He did not let what others told him down him but he used them has a motivation to do even better. Its best to keep a good attitude no matter the situation. Perseus attitude is what drew people to him because he knew discipline. On his journey to defeat the kraken, he was encountered by a sword that was sent by the gods and a lovely horse that could fly. With this little help from the gods, he defeated the kraken by using Medusa's head to turn the kraken into a stone. It was still his victory at the end even though he had little help from the gods. For example teachers are here to guide us but not to give us the answers. In the same way the gods were there to protect and guide Perseus in the right direction.

Epics are reflected throughout the whole movie because in numerous scenes we saw the emergence of man worshipping man which is related to the fact that in Greek epics man is being worshipped for their deeds. After the diffectance of the Kraken, Perseus had people that were willing to worship him because of how he saved the city. The spread of worshipping man can spread throughout Greece because of cultural diffusion. Cultural diffusion is the spread of ideas from place to place. For example, during the Civil Rights Movement boycotts spreaded through the south, Until one day major cities were heard to have had African Americans boycotting restaurants. Since ideas spread in the cradle of western civilization, it is possible that one polli could start the worship of man, then the next and so on.

  22. The purpose of epics was to show how man can accomplish things without the help of or little help from the gods. This shows the strength of man. If man can accomplish tasks without the gods this shows that the gods may not provide the strength that man have. Even though the gods are powerful it is them that depend on man to continue to thrive. Epics show how man may not need the help of the gods to do everything because they are able to do it themselves.
In this movie Perseus is a demi god. He is the son of Zeus. Unlike some people who would consider that as an honor, Perseus doesn’t even claim himself as the son of Zeus. That’s even after he was told that he was. Perseus receives help from the gods but doesn’t pay it much attention because he feels he can fight without their help. He can fight without help from the same gods that were responsible for the death of his earthly mother and father. He can fight without the help of those who are most powerful.
In the movie Perseus is provided with a sword while preparing to go battle. He looked at the sword and the men he was fighting with told him to use it and he refused. He decided that he could fight this battle without the help of any god. Perseus also won that battle. He found and defeated the kraken and proved a lot of people wrong. He went further than a lot of men. Including the men that went to fight with them. They all didn’t make it out alive but they did fight for something a lot of people can’t say they did.
Even though some people believe the stories of the gods are real others believe it is a myth. The Cradle of Western Civilization started things that still exist today. Some would agree that one of those are the myths of the gods. I believe that the gods were real but a part of me doesn’t. If the gods are real I think that they would still be talked about in today’s world. By that I mean I would think that the people of Greece today would create new epics and solve problems. I do believe that the Clash of Titans would fall under myth for the Cradle of Western Civilization.

The heroism of man is reflected in the movie “Clash of the Titans”, by showing the bravery, and hero acts of Perseus. Even though Perseus was offered many times to come up to Mount Olympus, and take a place as a god, Perseus always turned down the opportunity saying he was happy to be considered a mortal. His real father, Zeus, gave him a weapon to use, but instead of accepting the gift from him, Perseus said he would never use it. On his adventure to stop the Kraken, the monster Hades released, he encountered many horrible things/people that killed the army he fought with, and the woman he loved. It was not until then when he realized he was alone, that he would have to use the gift his father sent down for him, in order for him to survive and save Argos. Even though this was a gift from a god, in the end Perseus actions controlled the weapon, he fought and killed people on his own without the help of the gods. From this the Greek people learned they don’t need the gods to help them with acts of bravery, or to fight people, because man can perform many great acts on their own with effort and sweat. From this daring, courageous attitude, and act, Perseus can be used as an example for an greek epic that many people read and admire today.

Epics serve the purpose to tell about the many great adventures/ acts of heroism that man has conquered/committed without the help of the gods. These epics teach life learning lessons to teach readers right from wrong,or what would be a best decision in certain situations. For example, when Perseus went off on the adventure to defeat the Kraken before it reached Argos, he encountered calibos, who tried to kill him. Calibos was sent by Hades to kill Perseus, who he felt would destroy his plans in demolishing Argos. By defeating Calibos he showed that man could do many great things, to help save each other, and not to satisfy the gods all the time. Another reflection of epic act in the story is when Perseus went on a long journey to decapitate Medusa to bring her head to Argos, where he would present it to the Kraken, and it would turn to stone before the horrible beast ate Andromeda. From this act of heroism, Perseus was able to save the fate of Argos, and show the people that man doesn’t need the gods to do great things. With such brave acts came the worship of man. The gods weren’t really doing things to satisfy the people, but when the people saw man could perform amazing acts, this is when the worship of man had begun. For example, after saving Argos, and the people living there, Perseus was worshipped for his brave acts. From here these ideas of what man can do without the gods started to spread to different parts of the world, so when someone else saved their country, they were worshipped by many people for their valiant acts.

In conclusion, man doesn’t need the gods to perform incredible acts. They can perform acts of heroism simply by trying hard, and striving to achieve a goal. From such heroism acts comes the worship of man, which has spread throughout the world today. For example, after saving Argos, Perseus has now started the worship of man. People looked up to him, because he not only save the people in Argos lives, but he saved Argos fate. This heroic story has now become a greek epic that many people still read, and acclaim today. Greek epics serve the purpose to teach life learning lessons that will later be useful in life. For example, the lesson that anyone can do something great would be a great lesson for someone who thinks that only this person can do this, because they are good at this and i’m not when all it takes is a little effort.

The purpose of epics are to teach the lesson of how humans do not always need the help of the gods. It also shows how humans can use their senses and intelligence to solve problems. For example in the odyssey Odysseus and his men were finally out of war and they were adrift at sea and they came upon an island with a cave that belonged to a giant cyclops. When the cyclops returned and saw them there he was upset at first and then he ate one of them, Odysseus thought to give him wine to make him drunk and when he asked for his name he told the cyclops nobody was his name. The giant then fell asleep and and the men stabbed him in his eye and he woke up screaming that nobody had stabbed him in his eye. This example shows that since they made the gods mad they would have to get out of trouble on their own. Another example is when perseus would not accept the fact that he was part god and wanted to show that a mortal could kill a god. This showed that humans can do things without the gods.
The purpose of epics is reflected in the movie because the purpose of epics is to teach about nan's feats without the gods. The movie shows this because when Zeus sent perseus the sword Perseus would not fight with it because he wanted to fight like a man not a god. This proves the purpose because in the end perseus was able to defeat hades without Any other thing from the gods. Another example of how the purpose the purpose is shown because in the movie when they were fighting Medusa Perseus used the metal reflection of the shield to kill her instead of looking her in the eyes. This shows the movie reflects the purpose of epics because in an episode it is about man's feats without the gods and in that example Perseus did not have help from the gods he used his mind and intelligence to defeat the monster, Medusa.
The reason Greece can be said to be the start of the worship of man because the way they portrayed themselves. For example many of the ideas were born in Greece. Many of them are still relevant today those include : Architecture Government Mythology and their art. This shows that they were the ones who started the worship 9f man because even after they stopped believing in the gods they began to worship perseus. Since he was half man and half god. Also since they were advanced for their time era many other countries would use their ideas and make them better.

The purpose of Greek epics are to tell about the heroic feet of man with little or no help from the gods. It shows how humans used their bravery and intelligence to solve problems. These epics also showed how Greeks valued man. In the movie, “Clash of the Titans”, Perseus was a demigod who lived the life of a normal man. Perseus felt that everything he does should be done as a man. Throughout the movie, Perseus received offers and gifts from the gods. Zeus offered Perseus a sword that was suppose to help him fight the Kraken, but Perseus refused to accept the gift from Olympus. When Perseus is given a Pegasus to ride on given by the Olympians, he declines this offer, too.

Although Perseus was determined to do everything as a man, he used the gifts from Olympus when that was his last option. He believed that man was capable of defeating Medusa without the help of the gods even though no man had ever defeated her. He was very confident in himself and the rest of the soldiers. When defeating Medusa, he outsmarts her with a plan that would require sacrifice and great skill. The fact that humans created a plan that was successful without the help of the gods proves that these epics told how humans used their intelligence to solve problems. Perseus used the sword that Zeus gave him when defeating Calibos. He uses the Pegasus towards the end of the movie in order to get to the Kraken faster and fly back home.Perseus was not tempted by offers from Olympus. He made it clear that he was a man. He said that man is born, they fight, and then they die. He would choose this life rather than living for eternity which shows how strong minded he was.

Greece is named the “Cradle of Western Civilization”. This all begins with the idea of worshipping man. In the movie, the queen felt that man should be worshipped. This led to the gods punishing them. At the end of the movie, it is said that Perseus will be worshipped by people because of his bravery and intelligence. This starts cultural diffusion because the idea of worshipping man started to spread. Although people worshipped the gods, they also showed their appreciation for man. This can been seen in parts of the world because people would worship people along with gods.

The purpose of the Greek epics was to show the intelligence and bravery of man without the god’s assistance. In the movie, “Clash of the Titans”, Perseus shows how man is able to overcome big obstacles with little help from the gods. Of course, Perseus was not 100% human, but he still used his personal knowledge and bravery to fight for what he believed was right. For example, Zeus gives Perseus a sword that only he could use, but he refused to use it until it was absolutely needed. The bravery aspects of the man comes after the three witches with one eye told them that none of them would survive the trip. Some cowered out, while others stayed to fight. As they go on to defeat Medusa, the bravery of the men also show when they are not afraid to look her in the eyes and die so Perseus could survive. Also, Perseus was given the offer to live as a god, but he chose not to, and continued fighting. The passion and emotions he contained allowed him to keep pushing.

Greece, also known as the “Cradle of Western Civilization”, can be said to have begin the worship of men. Greek epics mainly focused on how mentally and physically strong man was. Trade was a major part of the Greek culture. Since Greek formed alliances and “common armies”, it was easy to spread the word about the valued characteristics that were placed into epics. Before going to war, a general may talk about the importance of man by himself without the gods. This could have influenced the thought of worshipping man. Due to the movie, you can infer than gods need man just as much as man needs gods. Without the gods, there is no man, and without man, there is no gods.

The Clash of Titans is a movie about the gods and and one of the gods son. The son of Zeus, Perseus, is found in a coffin with his mother. A fisherman picks up Perseus out of the coffin and takes Perseus in as his own son. One day Perseus and his family are passing by the statue of Zeus and the god Hades kills everything that was around the statue including Perseus family. Perseus survives and is found by a group of the soldiers. The soldiers takes him back to Argos, and Hades arrives there and tells Perseus he's the son of Zeus. Then Perseus goes off so he can have the necessary things to be ready for the Kraken (the beast). He kills the Kraken with little help from the gods and his father.

The definition of epic is a long poem or work, typically one derived from ancient oral tradition, narrating the deeds and adventures of heroic or legendary figures or the history of a nation. The purpose of the epics is to show that humans can do many things without the help of the gods. This shows that the humans are strong just like the gods and can fight for themselves. For example, in the movie Perseus gets little help from the gods and still kills the most vicious beast of the gods. This shows that the humans are just as strong as the gods. Being worthy to the gods is a big honor for the humans. The epics are very educational and can teach life long lessons.

Greece can be said to begin the worship of man, by Greece being the first ones praising the gods and the goddess. Since, the gods and goddess answered their prayers they praised the god and goddess. Another reason the greeks can be said to begin the worship of man by many gods or goddess showing their powers to the people of who they are trying to impress/influence the people. The gods and goddess are trying to influence the people to follow them and pray to them. For example, Hercules showed his strength and his bravery to the people. Like the example, hercules went everywhere and showed them hi strength and bravery to the people. For him going around convincing people to follow him cultural diffusion is being taken into place.

  28. I saw many examples of how man did something with little or no help from the gods in the movie, Clash of the Titans (2010). In class, we learned how the Greek epics told stories of how man did something with minimal or no help from the gods. An example of that from the movie was the way Perseus chose not to use the sword or the Pegasus he was given by the gods. He said that he would win as a man, not a god. This is especially important because Perseus is a demigod, and he still did not use his God-given power to complete his task.
Also, on more than one occasion Perseus was offered the chance to live in Olympus as a god. Perseus turned down the offer both times. Since a war between the humans and the gods was going on he could have easily been spared if he accepted the offer. Choosing not to shows an example of not needing the gods’ help in his quest. This is a prime example of the Greek epics and how it shows what man can accomplish without the help of the gods.
Because of the feats Perseus achieved without the gods help, the people began to worship him, as a man. The Greek people started to worship man after seeing what man can do without the gods help. This is what lead to the Greeks worshipping man and how examples of Greek epics are reflected in the movie.

In Greek Epics, they are used to address how regular man are to able to defeat the Gods without any powers or any little help from them. In the movie selection, Clash of The Titans, Perseus is honoring his guardian because he has always said that the day will come when a man steps up and concerns the Gods. When Perseus went on a journey of defeating the Gods, he is giving information about he is Zeus son. Perseus was discouraged and people had no faith in him because he's only a man and that the Gods are alight and powerful.

Greek Epics tell a lot of heroic themes about man vs. God. I believe there were many reflections of the Greek Epics because when Perseus tries to defeat Medusa, he uses his manly strength to defeat her. After Perseus defeated the gods, his people started to worship him for their needs. His accomplishments spreader through Greece and created cultural diffusion. Also this movie reflected the clash of the Titans because man worshiped man after he was defeated some of the gods.

  30. The purpose of the epics in the movie is to show the bravery of a man who was determine to accomplish something that has never been done. In the movie, Perseus showed how one man can change everything. He overcame all the obstacles that got in his way. He really changed the way people viewed him before he accomplished everything. The purpose of the epics was reflected in the movie because because Perseus defeated Hades with little help from the gods. The only help Perseus received was a sword and Pegasus from Zeus. Perseus lead his men into the underworld to kill Medusa and use her head to kill the Kraken and save everyone in Argos. He showed his true leadership throughout the whole journey. Thats why he was more successful than anyone else throughout the movie. Greece is named the “Cradle of Western Civilization” because it all begined with the idea of worshiping man. The queen felt like the king should be worshiped. At the end of the movie, Perseus was told he would be worshiped by others because of his intelligence and bravery. In my opinion he deserves it because his journey wasn't very easy. He should be proud of himself, he did everything he said he was going to do. This heroic story has now become a greek epic that many people still read, and acclaim today. This should never be forgotten and will always be remembered.

Greek epics were created for many reasons. The main purpose of Greek epics were to exemplify to the mortals that it was possible for them to be successful without the help of the gods. In many cases, the author’s of the epics wanted to convey the message that they could be triumphant without using a gimmick, gadget, or any form of “help” from the gods. I believe that the people got this mindset when certain things weren’t going right and the gods were not willing to help. For example, in The Clash of the Titans, Perseus’ “father” and the other fishermen would get very upset when there were no fish in the reef. They felt as if the gods did not care about their needs and desires. Over the years, epics have grown more than one primary purpose. Now, we use the ancient epics to learn about some of the experiences and what life was like in ancient Greece. Many historians have used Greek mythology and the epics to learn certain beliefs and morals that they had in ancient Greece.

In the movie, there were many instances as to where it was possible for the humans to accomplish something without the help of the gods. For example, Perseus refused to use the sword from Zeus, because he wanted to prove that he did not need the gods to survive. The people of Argos destroyed one of the god’s statues. This sent the god’s rage to another level. The gods were extremely upset and they felt betrayed. I also feel like the movie and the epics were a way to show the relationship that the gods and the mortals had. After watching the movie and reading many ancient epics, I somewhat have an understanding of the human’s point of views and the god’s point of views. By the author doing this, they portray both sides of the story to the reader. This gives the reader two sides of every story, and it is up to the reader to pick a side, or determine who they agree with the most. In the movie, the humans were able to defeat multiple creatures, this showed that the humans were undeniably brave and strong to go up against these mutant creatures with nothing but sharp weapons and each other.

Perseus was already known to be a demi-god. Many people knew that he was the son of Zeus, but very few knew what he was capable of. They thought that Zeus had sent Perseus to be a “spy” for him, they thought that Perseus was here to do the dirty work. He was very well known already, but after his amazing journey people began to idolize him. It had been said, but had never really been done for someone to defeat Hades. Although Hades would soon return, Perseus had to set him back and buy more time until his return. The people of Argos are going to worship Perseus because he did something that many people wanted to do, but could never actually accomplish. The fact that Perseus did this without any help from the gods made people respect him even more. I believe that this will begin the era of humans worshipping other humans. This will show how many things can change based on one occasion or incident.

  32. The purpose of epics are to show how man can do a lot of things with a little or no help from the gods. It shows how man use their braveness and intelligence to solve things. It is showed in the movie "Clash of the Titans" by when the gods gave Perseus the sword and the Pegasus and he refused to use it. He wanted to defeat Hades as a man and no help from the gods. He also used his manly strength and intelligence to defeat Medusa.
Once Perseus defeated the Kraken and sent Hades back to the underworld this shows cultural diffusion. Man began to start worshiping Perseus because of what he did to Hades and the Kraken. The people of Greece now know that man can defeat the gods and man will start to try to defeat them.

  33. Epics serve the purpose to tell about the many great adventures/ acts of heroism that man has conquered/committed without the help of the gods. These epics teach life learning lessons to teach readers right from wrong,or what would be a best decision in certain situations. 34. The purpose of epics are to tell tales about people who do magnificent deeds all by themselves. When completing an epic the hero is faced with many challenges that in the end they always overcome obstacles. The hero must show humanity and bravery to help themselves complete their battle against evil forces. The challenges heros are always difficult to complete so in all reasons they have help along the way like in the movie Clash of the Titans.

The purpose of epics in the movie was that even though Zeus tried to help Perseus, Perseus never wanted to receive it.Like in an epic the hero really dosen’t use help fromt the gods.Even though Perseus recieved a special sword and a dracula coin from his father he still would’ve completed the epic by himself. Also in the movie he had guidance along the way to help him help defeat the crackin.Without help who’s to say Perseus would’ve defeated him.Towards the end of the movie more drstic events took place such as : His guardian Ios is killed while on their journey, and before their journey started Perseuss’ family had died.Greece was the craddle because without the events taking place in their culture or the epics written this wouldn’t have occured. With trading with other people they were able to complete pick up traits form other city states that helped the rising of civilization.

  37. Epics are stories of past human communication that portray heroic deeds and adventures. They have morals behind them to teach us lessons that past people followed, based off of their civilization. The content of the epic can be interpreted in many ways. For example, it can entertain or inspire. Epics are an influence on other civilizations. Some epics are the only trace to certain ancient civilizations’ past. Epics show how some ancient civilizations were set up. Many of these epics have heroes who face obstacles, such as gods, monsters, and other humans who tests his bravery, intelligence and skills battle wise.

In the movie, “Clash of the Titans” the purpose of epics are reflected. One of the purposes of the Greek Epics was to show the heroism of man and how he didn’t need the gods to be great and undefeated. This hero was Perseus, who is the son of Zeus. Perseus is half god and half man. Although he knew he was part of both, he wanted to fight for the humans and didn’t want to join the Olympians. He was an influence to the humans and didn't agree with the Olympians’ decisions and ideas. The journey of Perseus was to kill the Kraken so he could get revenge on Zeus for killing his family. Perseus’ father had no faith that he could kill the Kraken and get what he wanted. Zeus showed this by offering him a sword only he could use, which was really to make him join the Olympians, but he refused. Perseus believed you didn't have to be a god to have power. Perseus defeated the Kraken without being a whole god. Another example is that the sacrifice of one person is not always the answer to get needs of the people. Andromeda didn’t have to be killed, but the humans had to fight together to battle. He proved wisdom and bravery can be the real power.

Greece is the “Cradle of Western Civilization”. In the movie, man worked with man to get the justice they wanted even though they knew they were not going to all live through the battles. The men stayed together to stand up against the gods. They wanted to let them know we humans have power too, with or without them. Although all the humans didn’t have power like the gods, the humans ended up winning in the end. This epic showed the gods they are not the only thing that can be worshipped. Man started to worship man later on, which is an example of cultural diffusion. This is how in other ancient civilizations man were called gods because of the power they held. The reason this movie was made is because of cultural diffusion. We are influenced by Greek religion to make movies about the gods.

  38. The purpose of an epic is to tell a story that may or may not be true about how regular people can overcome obstacles without the help of the gods, or as the definition version says: “a long poem, typically one derived from ancient oral tradition, narrating the deeds and adventures of heroic or legendary figures or the history of a nation.” These epics show the characteristics of a person that people valued in a person, hero or a leader. Epics also show that regular people just like me can go adventures and do extraordinary things. They show that with determination a regular person without any help from the gods or powers can be a true hero.
The Clash of the Titans reflects some of the aspects of an epic. For example although Zeus was his father making him a demigod, Perseus didn’t have any powers. He refused to use the sword his father sent to him until it was truly needed after everyone was killed. During the entire movie he said he wanted to live and do things not as a guy, but as a man.As the crazy man was trying to sacrifice the princess Perseus managed to get to her and save her as a man by jumping in the water she fell into and swam to her, picked her up, and put her on shore. Another example would be how in The Clash of the Titans you could also see how it reflects some of the aspects of ancient Greece and the things they believed in as well. For example the gods they believed in were shown during the movie even though it was mostly Hades and Zeus who had dialogue and is involved in the movie. They are also the main gods in the original epic. In the movie you could clearly identify two social classes that were accurate for even back then considering how their social and economic structure was.
Greece can be said to begin the worship of man because in the movie the main conflict was caused because they destroyed Zeus statue and the King and Queen said they were the gods now. People in this epic were solely made to worship and give praise to the gods. If they began to do this the idea of man worshipping probably happened as more people who didn’t believe in their gods came into town gave them ideas about man worshipping. Also as people left their town and told others about the idea of man worshipping that was told by someone else the process of cultural diffusion started and that’s how word got around.

In the movie I see man being worshipped almost everywhere. People costanly told Perseus he was part man and part god. Perseus's lover told Perseus he was the best of both god and man. The princess said they needed a man to protect them. Perseus wanted to save the city as a man and he wanted people to treat him like a man and not a god.
The purpose of an epic is to teach a lesson or moral about the importance of man, friendship, etc. The epic ooes this by putting the character on a adventure where they learn this. Perseus learned the importance of being a man. He learned this by completing his adventure. Although he's not just a man he's part god and he learn that he's the best of both at the end.
Western culture is a village of heritage, traditional values, etc. Perseus showed these characteristics by remembering where he was from. He told everyone I'm just a fisherman and he honored that. This movie taught morals, importance of heritage, traditional values, etc. Epic was far most the best I've seen.

The purpose of the epics are to show and explain to you how men can do things whether it’s with the gods or not. No matter if they were mortals they’re able to do things without power from the gods. Showing that you can do things without help from the gods mean a lot. It shows that you’re powerful without any gadgets or special powers from the gods.To me this is an accomplishment. The reason is because it shows the gods your real purposes for being who you are, and also it shows that you have you own “powers”.

In the movie, “Clash of the Titans” there are many reasons as to humans being able to get through different obstacles without the gods help. For example, everything that was sent to Perseus from the gods he didn’t use them no matter how many times he was told to. He wanted to show the people and gods that he could to things without the special sword. Perseus even refused to pray to Zeus when he was hurt. He did that because he was trying to prove that he didn’t need the gods on his journey. The movie itself has a lesson you have to learn, and that lesson is no matter how many times people tell you to do this and that a certain way you keep doing it your way to show people your way is a strong, better and an intelligent way.

The people really didn’t know who or what Perseus really was, but they did find out he was a demigod when Hades gave a little visit to Andromeda, Aphrodite, the king, and the people in the beginning of the movie. At first the people thought bad of Perseus, but when Perseus came back with the head of Medusa to defeat the Kraken things changed. People tried to stop Perseus from defeating the Kraken and saving Andromeda, but that didn’t stop him. Once he got Medusa head out of the bag, he put it in front the Kraken which turned it into stone. Soon Hades came and tried to kill Perseus, but that didn’t go the way Hades thought it would. Perseus sent Hades back to the underworld where he belonged. They knew that Hades would soon return, but that didn’t mean anything. Through Perseus journey he didn’t use the things the gods sent him until he actually needed them, which was towards the end. This goes to show that mortals/humans can do anything whether the gods help them or not. Soon people would thank humans for their bravery without power from gods.

  42. Because of Perseus' bravery act of killing the Kraken, creature created by Hades, and protecting the people around him, people gave him praise because he did it as a man and not as the son of a god.Because of the feats Perseus achieved without the gods help, the people began to worship him, as a man. The Greek people started to worship man after seeing what man can do without the gods help. This is what lead to the Greeks worshipping man and how examples of Greek epics are reflected in the movie.

  43. Greeks have many ways of expressing their culture.Today, I’m going to talk about one way.Greek epics are stories told to explain how a man is able to defeat heavy situations without the help of the gods or with the gods not on their side. This can have a positive and negative side to affect how the gods react to one another. These epics are not just stories told just for fun but they have life lessons to offer. These aspects are reflected in the movie “Clash of the Titans”.

These aspects are reflected by how the protagonist,Perseus, defeated the dangerous, feared, and powerful creature by the name of “The Kraken”.This creature was released by his uncle,Hades,to make himself to stronger by hearing people suffer and plead for mercy.Although Perseus was a demigod, partman and part god,he preferred to be only a man.Perseus went through an adventure that no man as conquered,of going to the underworld and making it back home alive, killing the dreadful “Medusa”,and defeating of course “The Kraken”.Along the way,he did have some form of help from his father,Zeus.

Greece can be said to be the beginning worship of man because of the heroic acts of Perseus and other character of epics. This was the first country to do this. This shows how people have to apply themselves instead of relying of the gods all the time for help. The gods also need their people to empower them. The people also brings them satisfaction. So in the end,Greek is a unique culture of their own and the movie “Clash of the Titans” is based upon how man don’t always have to depen on gods to help them defeated jurastic adventures.

  44. The purpose of an epic is to show how man achieved victories without the need of the Gods.Sure they had some impact but they were not apart of the bigger picture. For Example,Perseus, with the help of his men, killed Medusa on their own. Also, Perseus showed the Kraken the eyes of Medusa without the need of the god's.They gave Perseus a sword and a pegusus, but Perseus is the one who accomplished the deed.Given the fact that the Kraken defeated the Titans, it shows that man has become more powerful then the gods.Even though Perseus is a demi-god, he had some help from some men and considers himself one of them.Greece has said to begin the worship of man because it tells of heroic men in their epics. For instance, Perseus is a heroic man because he knows who he is and won't let other people or god's tell him otherwise.Epics also tell of life lessons of how man struggled and pulled through. This is what I think how it relates to the movie.

  45. In the movie clash of the titans we see a form of the worshiping of man when Zeus son saves the town from the kraken which was delivered by Hades in order to put fear in the people to punish them for not praying and to gain himself power in the process. While Perseus’s father (Zeus) tries to give him god like materials like the gift of the sword and Pegasus, his mind and manpower helps him defeat the problems he came to. The Greeks worshipped gods, but because man were evolving and growing to believe that the gods aren't really needed, Perseus believed that it was best to face his issues humanly. For example, in the movie Zeus sent him a enchanted sword that would help him throughout his journey but Perseus refused to use it because he wanted to do it as an ordinary man. But he failed to realize that he wasn't just a normal/ordinary man. This movie symbolized the strong will of man by showing how they all joined together and traveled to the underworld not knowing what their fate would be. Once they got there, they met the witches who seemed to be very wicked but Perseus showed no fear and was only focused on why he traveled there. They showed determination by going through life threatening troubles in order to succeed. Perseus was focusing on getting revenge on Hades for killing his family but he was also curious on where he truly came from and wanted answers. But, his pride held him back from being truthful to himself to the fact that he was only denying learning more about how he became a demigod because he believed it's best to stay true to his human side.
The purpose of epics are to give men hope that they can accomplish things by thinking and going through changes in order to evolve. Perseus unexpectedly defeated the kraken and without his bravery everything would've broke down and Hades would've won. The purpose of epics is to always learn a lesson and there is always some type of moral that is beneficial to the person who sees it.

  46. The purpose of epics is to show man’s accomplishments without the help of gods. The epics showed how the Greeks valued man deeds, and his spirits. This is reflected in the movie because Perseus was a demigod, but wanted nothing to do with gods. He didn’t want any help from them, and he only used the tools they sent him when he needed to. For example, the Pegues, and the sword. He told everyone that he was man just like everyone else was, and that his parents and his sister died in a ship wreck. Every time someone told him to pray to his father he would refuse and say his dad was dead. He knew that he could do it, and he basically did all that because the gods got his family killed. Perseus wanted to get back at the gods for killing his family. Before Perseus could do anything he had to defeat Medusa, and take her head so he can turn the Kraken into stone. This shows us that man can show bravery and heroism just like gods. The gods think that the people need them, but in actuality the gods need the people. When the people were tired of getting mistreated they knocked down the statue of the god. The gods were mad and they felt betrayed when they heard this news.

Greece was called, “The Cradle of Western Civilization” because it can be said to begin the worship of man. Because western ideas were born in Greece, ideas are still relevant today. At the end of the movie Zeus offers Perseus a place at Olympus. Perseus again refuses the offer, but Zeus tells him the things that he did were legendary and people will still think of him as a god. All of this can relate to cultural diffusion because a lot of ideas were formed in Greece, but we can see them in other different countries and continents.

  47. The main purpose of epics are to tell a long story or adventure of a heroic person. That's just what we witnessed in Clash of the Titans Perseus’ long and horrific journey to seek revenge on Hades but he ends up doing something more heroic like. In the movie Hades kills Perseus’ family on accident but he didn't care. This really hurts Perseus and now he wants revenge and the blood of Hades and the gods. For example when Perseus was picked up by some soldiers from Argos he's original plain was to find Hades and make him play for what he has done. Argos had their own problem on hand at the time when Hades gave them ten days before he released the kraken upon their city. Perseus decided to help them not only for himself and his revenge on Hades but the king of Argos begged that he help since he was a demigod.
Another example would be when Perseus went and killed Medusa in order to get her head to kill the kraken. Doing this made his story or epic longer like a epic is supposed to be. Greece is now starting to think the worship man is possible and cultural diffusion is shown in this and the way Perseus’ adventure shows it too how Greece is the Cradle of the Western Civilization. For example Perseus concorded the kraken and Hades with just a little help from the gods buy mainly from his own bravery and intelligence. Doing this made the gods realize that the people could worship man because they could be as great as they gods too. Also cultural diffusion is shown also cultural diffusion is the religious beliefs and social actives shared with others. This shown because there may be another civilization where man is in control and after Argos sees what Perseus has done they could probably see that this is possible for man to be in control with an iron fist.

  48. The purpose of the epics were to show how the heroic acts of man. These epics show how man used little to no help fro man in order to save there people and/or home. They show the bravery and intelligence of man in these epics. In many of these epics the heros go through many challenges in order to save the day.

During the movie Clash of the Titians, the hero Perseus portrays the hero in many of the epics. He is brave, intelligent, and strong. Perseus doesn't let the challenges of life get to him. Just as the hero in the epics he pushes past the challenges in order to save Argos. Even thought Zeus gave Perseus a sword, a coin, and Pegasus, Perseus did majority of the work. Perseus and the other men traveled far, and worked hard to defeat the Kraken. This shows how the purpose of epics are reflected in the movie.

Greece is said to start the worshipping of man, because Perseus did not care that he was the son of Zeus. He cared about being a man. The gods killed his family, so what was there to be thankful for. Cultural diffusion also started the worshipping of man. The belief that man were the gods was spread from one group to another. These epics just add to that belief as well. I say this because man solved major problems with out the help of the gods. 2,500 years ago these ideas were born and the kept spreading and spreading, this is were cultural diffusion came in. The way the Greeks saw it, man had everything they needed and the gods were no longer needed because that had an hero that could count on. The movie shows how all these different ideas came into Argos and almost destroyed it. Without Perseus, the men from the army, and Ios the city- state would not have been saved.

  49. In my opinion I think the purpose of epics is to provide life lessons to people that are in need of assistance at tragic times. Most epics include past human communications to get the reader to believe that it is true. For example the Epic of Gilgamesh was created to teach Mesopotamians how to become friends with each other. Many epics usually include mythical gods or heroes that overcome the obstacles and challenges in life just to show the reader that anything in life is possible. In the movie Clash of the Titans, epics are reflected because of the uses of mythical gods and Demi-gods. The protagonist in the story (Perseus) has had many ups and downs in his life. Early in the movie Perseus has already had his family murdered by his uncle Hades. While Persus has been found passed out on shore he is captured by Athenians so they can force him to fight against Zeus. Although Perseus did not believe he was a Demi-god until he has received a gift from his true father Zeus. When Perseus recovers the gift from Zeus he is determined send Hades back to the underworld, so he apcan avenge his family. Towards the end of the movie Perseus has lost all of his partners that helped him get to the point to where he is now. Once Perseus has killed Medusa he takes her head back to the city of Argos so he can once and for all kill the Kraken and send Hades back to the Underworld. Once Perseus has successfully killed the Kraken, he uses the sword Zeus gave him to send Hades back to the underworld. This could relate to an epic because Perseus had to overcome many obstacles just to avenge his family and be set free. Greece can be the first to worship man because they were the first civilization to defeat a enemy without having help from the gods. I can say this because the Greeks were known to win the Trojan war without having help from the gods they believed in.

  50. Epics are made to explain and show events from the past. For example, the epic of Gilgamesh was made to teach people about Gilgamesh’s journey while being a king of his people. Also it retells in a continuous narrative the life and works of a heroic or mythological person or group of people. Furthermore, I believe that epics bring an interesting factor to students who learn morals and look up to gods/kings they feel are leaders.
The purpose of epics is reflected throughout the majority of the story. For example, when Persias went on a journey to fight and save his country , and also showing people that even a demigod can defeat another god. Persias teaches people that nothing is impossible as long as you believe in yourself. Also, the movie shows the purpose of an epic by showing how heroic/ iconic all the gods are. Each god is different in their own way by personality, leadership, and their different ways of leading their world.
Lastly, this movie shows how man worships the gods by obeying their orders. For example, the town betrayed Hades when they gave them a choice of either letting the Kraken release or sacrificing the princess. They were given this choice because they dishonored the gods by saying that the gods aren't powerful enough and that they should be the gods (as well as the princess). After this incident the people of Greece no longer doubted the gods and everyone behaved. Therefore, epics can be essential to education nowadays because it teaches a variety of things in one.

I see this reflected many times in clash of the Titans when Perseus denies the gods and disregards their gifts etc. The purpose of epics is to show the strong will and bravery of man. It is to tell stories of hom man reached great heights without the help of the gods, or even in spite of the gods trying to help them. Epics can be about bravery, sacrifice, vengeance, war, etc. The thing that will always be there in an epic is the perseverance of man. That will always be the purpose of epics.
The purpose of epics is supported in the video a few times. Like I said, the purpose of epics is to show the strong will and bravery of man. The bravery of man is shown when Perseus decides to go to Madusa’s temple and try to cut of her head. Perseus knows that no man has ever made it out alive but, this is where the strong will comes in, he still decides to go in and he is determined to make it out alive with the head. Yes, of course he had some help but it was another man helping. Yea he had that crocodile snake looking creature helping him, but that creature isn't a god so it was still the will of man doing the “impossible”.
Greece can be said to start the worship of man because they were pretty much the first ones to believe in their being strength and faith in man instead everything happening through the gods. For example when Perseus defeated medusa and the cracken even zues told him, he might not want to be king or worshipped as a god but the people will start worshipping him as a man , which they eventually did.

  53. I see this being reflected in the movie Clash of the Titans by it explaining the purpose of the epics. The purpose of the epics is to teach life lessons from the past. I say this because the epics of the gods are to teach what is right and wrong. It helps people get a view of what happened in the past that they shouldn’t do or if good how they can improve it. This will show them how to make their country better every single day. Which to them one thing in the movie that they wanted to change was the power of the Gods. They wanted to be show bravery and power over them to let them know that without them they are nothing but people with a high status.

Clash of the Titans also showed a start of how religion didn’t have to be put with everything whether how big or small it is just like Aristotle did even though he didn’t live to see the day of his work to actually be showed today and back then. Although this is one of the things that can be seen in the movie there are some other clues and key scenes that can show the purpose of the epics. The purpose of the epics are reflected in the movie by the first start of the movie explain the Gods stories and how there came to be mankind at which they worshipped them. The movie told about how Zeus wanted his brother to build something so powerful that it could defeat their mother and father and if he did this he promised him to rule the throne with him. Hades ended up building what we know in the movie as The Craken, which actually defeated their parents. But tricked by Zeus Hades was made to live in the underworld sad, lonely, and unloved. The rest of the Gods that was along with Zeus became Gods of everyday things that are showed today, and with that he created man which over time grew tired of the Gods not helping enough. So they started to grow wiser just like Aristotle and decided to think of how their religion doesn’t have to go with everything.

Greece can be said to begin the worship of man by the country trading with other people from different places and being open, which allowed them to spread ideas and discover new things. With this they put the Gods in probably every single discovery, idea etc. etc. and from this they grew wiser. When they grew wiser they saw how the Gods didn’t answer to everything, and came up with the idea that religion doesn’t have to be with everything they do. Which is probably where they developed the discovery of using Gods name in vain (blasphemy)? They saw how little things were being use for the basis of Religion and how most of the things they were using with religion was just nonsense. I say this because every single thing is not that important to where you use the most things that is the head of your culture and makes you who you are, or even helps you go to a great place in your afterlife every day. It’s just as if you are doing it just because you were born into it, or is use to ,which is how Greece is said to begin with the worship of man.

  54. In the movie "clash of titans" it shows how the epics were important and it gave some details that are inside the stories of the great epics. For example the epic in clash of titans told us that man doesn't need handouts from the gods and that man can do it by himself. This is so important because this is the starting point of the humans trying to lead themselves. THe also showed us the purpose by showing how important it was for Perseus to complete his journey. If he didn't then that will be the end for man. Then after he's does this he will be worshipped as a king. Even Zeus said "they will worship you like a god".
Greece is the starting point of the worship of man because of how the worshipped other humans and their accomplishments. Greece really did a great thing of spreading their gods around the world, that a lot of people from different places knew about them their gods.

  55. The media selection displayed the courage and the independence of Argos as they refused to worship any god that wouldn't treat them with respect.Perseus sought out to kill Hades, blinded by anger and rage that Hades summoned to him, after his foster father had been brutally killed. Perseus was given a weapon from the gods, and rejected it without hesitation. The commander persuaded him to use the gift, but he merely threw it to him and told if that he was going to complete the mission as a man, not a god. Perseus didn't see himself as a demigod, but a fisherman just like his father. Perseus was as strong as a god, but as wise as a man. He proved that anything could be done. Perseus was a man of gold, for he displayed that it may be best to worship man because of the powers that he held and displayed to the people. The purpose of epics is to pass on the knowledge of a single responsibility that could change how a person views their action. An epic is supposed to tell the views of a different time line stating how such a character could change and do such outstanding things without actually having to change themselves or in most cases change them self to become a better noble person.Clash of the Titans is an epic told of a brave man that sought out to seek revenge for his father. He fought beast along with many other travelers that knew of the gods plans to destroy Argos. This epic displayed exactly what its should have;a heroic warrior in an old folk-lore. I may support this statement with the fact that Perseus was the one to save Argos from fatal destruction. The Kraken sentenced most whole structures to dusty remains, but some of Argos still remains still and worthy of being useful. Another supporting statement would be the fact that he saved the princess and has been the protagonist the entire time while still battling his fathers offers to simply give up and go with him to become be a God along side his true father, Zeus.
Greece may be said to start the worship of man because they stood up for themselves and did not back down when the gods stared to threaten them with the death of their princess and kingdom. Perseus set an amazing example as well as the commander, soldiers, and local volunteers that joined Perseus on the quest to fight and kill Hades. Perseus battled multiple to keep his promise to his father. The men along side Perseus were not victorious, but did not quiver when they faced death. They fought till they no longer could, Perseus lasting the longest. The people of Argos worshiped man because they knew that they were needed to the gods. I mean why wouldn't they worship man. They fought till they no longer could. They battled and became allies with the enemy to overcome those who mistreated them. Perseus battled scorpions, he murdered Medusa, he even killed the feared and merciless Kraken, and to top it off with a cherry he saved the princess of Argos, the one that had been put at the edge of a savage demise because of the kingdom's declaration. Argos built their civilization brick by brick with much knowledge of the other civilizations to which they took their strategies and built a new tactic that would be stronger, bigger, and better. Cultural diffusion saved Argos. Many things that they had back then are still seen now only far more advanced. Everything that they do everything that they touch has been built and made with the preference of their strategies and anothers. Argos has been through thick and thin, but they still remain stable, even without the help of the gods. So, in conclusion that is where the worship in man evolved from.

  56. The purpose of epics is to show the heroic figures of man. This is demonstrated in the clash of the titians by how all of the movie showed how the actual human figures had powers like super heroes. I say this because although Perseus was a Demi god he still considered himself to be just a regular man. He did not want to face the fact that he was half God so because of this he felt like he need to fight for the kingdom with only men powers. Another way this was demonstrated throughout the movie was how Hades turned this regular man into a beast by just breathing into him. This showed how although these people seemed human. They really had powers beyond you adverage human being.
Greece can be said to have given the worship of man by how in Greece man was the main ruler and you did what they said do. This may seem unrealistic to some but others may believe that this is a very smart idea. Greece gives other civilizations the courage to be able to say they have a human with full athority over them and they are just as strong with man than without. This is how Greece can be said to have given the worship of man.

  57. Epics are long detailed stories to tell accomplishments of humans that had little to no help from the gods. These are usually to make the humans feel good about themselves. An example of this can be seen in the Clash Of the Titans movie. This is shown when a demon Hades created fights against man. Even though many people died and Persius did work, they still overcame. Man even beat a giant scorpion. Epics also admire heroes who are smart. In the movie Persius also uses his brains to figure out how to beat the gods beast which was the Kraken. He had to figure a way to keep the beast from destroying the whole Argos. He tries as hard as he can to save many and that is what people admire. At times they had help from the gods. They had to use their tools and things given to them to win but epics like heroes who has little to no help from the gods. Greek is called the Cradle of Western Civilization because of their views. They value arts, beauty and imagination. These things were first here because of the people of Greece. They began the worship of man by epics which gave them so much power and glory to themselves.

In the movie, “Clash of the Titans”, we saw a great example of one the most important elements in Greek epics- man using logic and reasoning to solve their problems instead of relying on the gods. An example of this is when Perseus and some soldiers were walking through the woods on a quest to find Calibos. When Perseus and the soldiers finally made it to a resting point, he decided to wander from the rest of the soldiers and stumbled upon a mighty, glowing sword that could only be unsheathed by him. Once he realized that the sword was from the gods he refused to take the offering. Another example of this would be when Zeus told Perseus that the only way to defeat the Kraken was to use his godly powers. This made him very upset and he refused to do so because he made a commitment to never become like them. He made this commitment because Hades was the one who killed his family. The main reason the humans begin to revolt against the gods was because that they were starting to get away with more stuff such as, ruling over themselves, tearing down temples where they worshiped the gods, and worshiping their own idols and gods. This mainly came from so many different people coming to Greece and sharing their different cultural and religious ideas all over Greece. Even though the Greek people had gods to worship, they still took on the different beliefs of other cultures, which made the gods look weak and also made them look like they were weak.

  59. The purpose of epics are to show how men or demi gods can affect how others or even the gods think. In the clash of the titans perseus is a demi god who changes how men think by defeating hades while rejecting the gods help and advice. Epics also show good morals and how to correct your wrongs. The purpose of epics reflect in the movie by showing that you could be worshipped by the people who doubt you. Only the gods could ignore hate and perseus was half man but still proved that he could overcome any challenge without the gods. The reason this reflects the purpose of epics is because perseus didn’t want help, yet still completing the task which shows he is brave and humble. Greece starts the worship of man by creating man, and living of their power. The people thought they could defeat the gods by destroying what they love. When humans get this type of confidence they worship themselves or other humans. Greece influenced worshipping man by not being strict, and needing their prayers for power. Cultural diffusion is what caused this to spread to other countries and continents by experiencing other cultures habits and making them one of your habits.

  61. the purpose of epics is to show how man can do heroics acts on his own without much help from the gods. This is portrayed in the movie when perseus fought his heroic battles without much help of the gods for example he fought off giant scorpions just using his will power and even though perseus is a demi god he still refers to himself as just a man and he refuses the help of the gods.another purpose of epics is to show how man can depend on himself. For example In the movie perseus didnt trust anyone but the warriors he fought along side with and himself. The emergence in the worship of man started happening when man started rebeling against the gods because they were thinking that they didnt need the gods anymore and that they could Rule themselves. This made the gods angry which caused the cracken to be released by zues and hades. So man decided not to worship the gods and the problem with that is that the gods immortality is fueled by the prayers of man so if man stops praying then their immortality can no longer exist.this spread across to other countries because of cultural diffusion. Another way this is reflected in the movie is when perseus refused to use the gifts given to him by zues to complete his journey instead he used the weapons that are made by man.

In the movie many scenes of a heroic man appeared and him performing incredible acts of bravery. Which is the purpose of epics to tell a story of a heroic man created by gods with the help of them. To give the people in a civilization a reasonable cause to look up and be brave like these people. The purpose of epics is reflected in this movie by telling the story of Perseus. Telling how he was the hero of his town by accomplishing what he knew his father wanted. Also how he had little help from gods defeating what killed his father. Telling what he did that was so heroic and people believed could never happen. The movie shows the adventures that Perseus went through to accomplish his goal.

In the movie his goal was to defeat Hades because the beloved hades killed his father. Also his father wanted someone to one day bring all the trouble that Hades was causing to an end. Although he was really a son of Zeus he showed his bravery by going against the cursed snake headed woman that could turn you into stone and defeating her which no man ever did. Another way the movie reflected an epic is by showing how he defeated an beast that could created another beast with its blood with a little help from the gods. Which also shows that he won't give up and will do anything it takes to get to where he needs. Also not only did he do these adventures for his father he also defeated a crackling - the underworld beast to save his princess and rescued her from drowning.
Greece could now begin to worship men because of this epic and how it explains how Perseus fault as a man and didn't Change to a god. Meaning he could have still be seen each day and people would now respect him for what he had done. One reason why I say this is because near the end of the movie Zeus says that people will now look up to him now that he has did the impossible. Meaning they will now look back at what he has done for them and worship him still even though he is a men.

  64. In the movie, there was demigod named Perseus was fighting against time and Hades with his Underworld henchmen to come to Argos to tell the king, queen and village to have Argos destroyed by the Kraken or sacrifice the princess Andromeda. But Perseus was determined to save her and Argos both. He went on a journey to get to Medusa's lair without ant help from the gods. But at desperate times such as the sword that was given to him he used it when he lost tthe warrior sword. Also when the pegasus came to take Perseus back to Argos to save Andromeda. Thats whats was given to him by Lo.
The purpose of epics are to tells stories about a hero going against another force with little help from the gods which usually end happily.Such as Gilgamesh he had little help from the gods even though they really wanted to help him in battle against Enkidu. This is sort of like Clash of the Titans but this had more to do with class.
The Cradle of Western Civilization is said to begin the worship of man. One reason why this is the theory is cultural diffusion around this time is happening and people are sharing their culture with them. That is what leads them into believing that they can worship man.

  65. In the movie "The Clash of the Titans the purpose of the epics are to show that man can help himself with out the help of the gods. I say this because in the movie when Persus was out fighting he did not use the sword the gods have him he used the other sword. The first time Persus used the sword was when he first seen it . The second time Persus used the sword was when he defeated Hades (the god of the underworld). He wanted to kill Hades because he was the god who killed Persus father Zeus. So Persus and some other people went on a long journey to go and kill Hades. The epics also show the bravery of man because the brace soldiers were the ones who went on the dangerous journey. The purpose of the epics are reflected in the movie by showing that man can defeat or take on anything he puts his mind to. I say this because the witch had told Persus that he was going to die along the journey but, Persus did not die because he didn't come all that way for nothing.

Greece is called the "Cradle of Western Civilization" and,Greece also started new ideas because a lot of the ideas we have now came from Greece. Greece can also start the worship of man because they trained Persus to go and defeat Hades and they came along with him. Greece worships Persus because he killed Hades and no one in that town liked Hades.

The movie “Clash of the Titans” is a story about a demigod named Perseus, Zeus’ son, and how he defeated some of the most powerful people and saved his city. The purpose of epics is to show us the bravery of man and how they could do many heroic things without much help from the gods. The purpose of epics are reflected throughout this whole movie. Perseus defeated some of the most powerful people with very little help from the gods. He defeated Medusa, Calibos, Hades, and “the cracking” with his own strength and tactics, and one special tool from the gods. That tool was a sword that only gods\demigods had the ability to use. He only used it twice and denied to use it many times before finally deciding to use it because he wanted to fight “as a man” and he didn’t want to “become one of them,” the gods. He despised the gods because they killed his “family.”
Greece can be said to begin the worship of man because after what Perseus did people worshipped him. They looked at him as a hero because of his actions, that he didn’t even realize were heroic because he was more focused on getting revenge on Hades for killing his family. His father told him “Although you might not want to be a god, people are still going to worship you,” and his father was right. He might not want to be known as a god, but he will still be worshipped as if he were because what he did was very unforgettable and people didn’t want his work to go unnoticed. After Perseus’ acts of braveness people realized that man can be just as powerful as a god.

The purpose of the epics is to see how men could do things without the God’s help. The epics were to teach people about the past of Gilgamesh. The purpose of epics was shown in the movie “Clash of the Titans” because the men declined all of the God’s gifts and decided to take down the enemies by himself. This movie really made me realize that all men can do things without the help of others. Perseus showed a lot of bravery in this movie when he defeated everyone who was against him. There were two times out of the whole movie when Perseus was very very brave. One time in the movie when he was brave was when he defeated the scorpions. The scorpions were apart of hades , which was from the underworld. The other brave moment was when he defeated the man who was sent by Hades to defeat him. It took a very long time for Perseus to defeat him but it came a time when Perseus realized that he needed to do what he had to do to get what needed to be done, done.

Greece is given the name “Cradle of Western Civilization because men were worshipped. The Gods punished the men because the queen thought men should be worshipped. At the end of the movie, Perseus was told that he would be worshipped because of all the brave things he did without the help of the Gods. Cultural diffusion started because his brave actions spreaded.

An epic retells in a continuous narrative the life and works of a mythological hero or heroes. Some famous ones are the Odyssey, Gilgamesh, and the Iliad. A lot of them tell about how a simple human can do big things without the help of a god. Most teach lessons and some are made to entertain. Epics are meant to be retold throughout time. They are also meant to explain certain things of the past and why things happened.

The Clash of the Titans was a prefect example of how humans can do great things without a god’s help. Perseus defeated Hades by killing the kraken. He did have some assistance by other humans but throughout the way they were all killed and he made it by himself. Not to mention the fact that his dad ( Zeus ) gave him a sword to help. Although the sword was special, Persius decided not to take it. He still managed to defeat Hades by killing Medusa, chopping her head off, and turning the kraken into stone with Medusa’s head. That seems like a lot to do without help, but Perseus did.

Perseus has changed a lot of about what people believe. At first people believed that the gods are to be worshipped but now people worship humans to. That tradition has spreaded all over and now we have people worshipping humans. For example: the people in Egypt worship pharaohs and the people of England have a queen to look up too. Even though Perseus was half god and half human, he worked his way through everything the same way a human would have to. He proved that humans could be equal to gods and that not everything happens because of the gods. What he did was a big shift life, I mean what human has the courage to do everything Perseus did and manage to get people to worship him over an actual god?

Perseus and his men discover a sword forged in Olympus that will only display power if it is wielded by Perseus. While separated from the group, Perseus encounters Zeus' sacred herd of flying horses, the Pegasus. However, Perseus refuses both the sword and the pure-black Pegasus that the gods offer as assistance, as he does not wish to be a god. Calibos attacks the group and tries to murder Perseus, killing several soldiers in the process, but Calibos is unsuccessful, losing his hand before escaping. However, Calibos's blood forms giant scorpions from the sand that attack Perseus and his group. Though they kill several scorpions, most of the group are slain, and the survivors are surrounded by more of the monsters. They are saved by the Djinn, a band of once-human desert sorcerers who have replaced their earthly flesh with ash and dark magic. The mysterious beings are able to hypnotize the scorpions into submission. Though not trusted prior to healing Perseus's wound, the Djinn leader, Sheikh Suleiman , joins Perseus's group. The Djinn want to see the gods' wish for destruction fail. While Io remains outside Medusa's lair, due to a spell that forbids any woman from entering the area, Perseus' remaining soldiers fight hard to stay alive but are turned to stone one by one by her gaze. But with Suleiman self-destructing and Draco's sacrifice, Perseus manages to behead Medusa and her stumbling body falls into a fire. Perseus emerges in time to see Calibos kill Io by stabbing her from behind. Perseus engages Calibos in combat and kills him using the sword from Olympus, turning him back into Acrisius in human form. With his final breath as Hades's power leaves him, Acrisius tells Perseus to never become a god. Perseus stays with the dying Io until she passes on, then rides Pegasus back to Argos with Medusa's head to find some of Argos' citizens have formed a cult of Hades and are planning to sacrifice Andromeda to the Kraken against the king's wishes. By then, Hades reveals to Zeus the destruction of Argos will give him enough power to overthrow the other Olympians before leaving his powerless brother to ensure his victory.Perseus defeats the creatures sent by Hades and uses the head of Medusa to turn the Kraken into stone as Kepheus is killed by the cult leader, who is then crushed under the shattering Kraken. Hades appears and sneers that Perseus cannot kill him, since he is a god. Perseus retorts that while Hades can live forever, it will not be in the world of men and uses the sword to banish Hades back to the Underworld. Because Perseus has saved Argos from destruction, Andromeda suggests that Perseus become king and rule Argos at her side, but he declines. Zeus appears before Perseus again and offers to make him a god, but for a second time he refuses. Zeus warns Perseus that Hades will return to rule the world in darkness when he amasses enough fear from mankind. Since Perseus is intent on staying on Earth, Zeus resurrects Io, and the two embrace while Pegasus flies above. In conclusion he defeated the creature by using the Gods help which was the sword.

He purpose of epics were to teach moral lessons This is reflected throughout the movie because you learn that man can do anything if they are determined to. I say this because Perseus was determined to defeat the Kraken as a human instead of a God and he tried to deny offer of help sent by Zeus. Even though in the end Perseus did pick up the sword that was provided to him by Zeus he struck his final blow as a man. He defeated every obstacle that was sent his way during the entire movie as a man. This lesson to be learned is that we as human have also have great value.

This helps us understand how the Greeks slowly created the transition and emergence into the worship of man. They showed us the value of man and how they are just as important as gods in a way. This is also reflected in the movie by Perseus ability to prove he can fight as a man. The weapons and advice given to him by the gods Were great resources, but it was man that was putting them to use not the gods. He fought and Houghton like a man and because of this he was the best of both man and god. He showed values that even the gods didn't show. This was also a good way for the movie reflect the worship of man. They showed that man can have values such as selflessness, loyalty, and compassion that even the gods didn't have. Even though they worship the gods they showed us even as humans we are capable of great things.

This all reflects cultural diffusion because the idea of the worship of man started in Greece and it has spread all over the world. The Greeks also created democracy which is a a very common type of government. They have been a great influence on modern day politics and religion. They were the first of many to believe in the power of man and let humans get a say in important decisions. This was also the beginning of philosophy because it shows that the gods don't explain everything and that sometimes you should think of more sensible explanations. Philosophers saw the bigger picture and people like Aristotle and Socrates were the first to realize that everything can not be explained and ensured by the gods and this made the humans ability to think more important. The Greeks helped us emerge into the worship of man by showing human values and abilities that even the gods didn't express and explain.

The purpose of an epic is to tell a story about how a man did heroic things with little help from gods. In epics men did incredible acts of bravery by themselves. And I see this reflect in the movie because of the man Perseus that is the son of Zeus. He defeated all of them on his own without the help of god. His act of bravery was when he defeated the Kraken that Hades released and defeating Hades and sending him back to the Underworld. He used the sword that was provided to him. In the movie I saw the worship of man when Perseus finished all his acts of bravery people started to worship him. People believed that because he was so brave and powerful he deserved to be worshipped.

Greece began the worship of man because of so many heroic men that did acts of bravery. This is why Greece is given the name Cradle of Western Civilization. In Greece they began to worship man when the queen and king started a war with the gods because the gods need their worship and they were not scared. They believed that nothing was more beautiful then their daughter.

The purpose of epics is to tell about the acts of heroism man can do without or with little help from the gods. For example, Perseus from "Clash of the Titans" defeated Madusa on his own with out the help of the gods. The purpose of epics are showed in the movie by how Perseus defeated many mythical things on his own and refused the help from the gods. For example, Perseus used his brain to have a plan to kill Madusa so he could get her head to turn the "Kraken" into stone because he knew he couldn't defeat him on his own. Another example was when Zeus offered Perseus a chance to abandon earth and become a god he declined him twice because he wanted to be able to help the people of the world.
Being that Greece was considered "the cradle of western civilization" I think that people would start worshipping man because the western part of the world basically look up to them. So I think that they feel that they should be worshipped. In my opinion I think that they should have been highly praised but not more that the gods. For example, Greece contributed philosophy to western civilizations so I feel that they should have gotten something in return. Another example is that they contributed art and architecture which everyone would want.

The purpose of epics is to show the acts of humans and how they conquer big challenges. Epics show strong characteristics of certain individuals. The Clash of the Titans follows the well known story of Perseus and how he plans to defeat Hades. Perseus is a Demi God. He is the son of Zeus. Perseus wanted to achieve as a human, and not as a half human half God. The epics can also be used to influence the life of humans. It can show them the way they should go and the way they should act.

The purpose of epics are shown in Clash of the Titans because Perseus is showing strong characteristics. He was determined to make sure he defeated Hades as a human. He did not want to be known as half God. Epics show the acts of humans and how they conquer big challenges. Perseus conquered a big challenge because he defeated Hades. It is not easy to defeat Hades. Hades is very powerful and did everything he could to make sure Perseus would not defeat him, however Perseus did not give up. There was a sword given to Perseus from the gods. Perseus refused to take the sword because he believed that he did not need the gods to defeat Hades. Perseus was very strong that he defeated Medusa, even though he lost most of the people who were behind him in this battle. This epic can influence humans to not give up it can let them know that under any circumstances that if they put their mind to something and try their hardest, they can achieve greatness .

Greece can be said to start the worshipping of man because the epics that they had could travel to other places. When I say this I mean that people can hear about the epic and pass it on through generations. As they pass the epic on through generations the epic will pass on to other places creating cultural diffusion. Cultural diffusion is when traditions are combined from different parts of places. When other people hear about this they will start worshiping man, just like the Greeks.
