Students,
We have been learning about the experiences of immigrants in America in the late 1800s and early 1900s, which was at times wonderful and sad. One of the ways the lives of immigrants have been documented in the past is through pictures. We are going to do the same thing.
For your Social Studies project you are going to create a photo journal that shows how immigrants lived and worked when they came over to the United States. We will be discussing in class how immigrants were treated when they came to United States, their living and working conditions and how their cultures affected America.
These are things your pictures need to show. The instructions are as follows:
You must have a MINIMUM of ten (10) pictures.
Each picture must have a description underneath it which explains what is going on the picture. It must relate to something we have talked about in class.
Include a cover page with your name, Mrs. Yancie, US History and the title “Immigrant Life in America”.
You can use pictures from magazines, books, and the internet.
The first page of your photo journal must be a short biography about you, the journalist. You must include a picture of yourself.
You cannot use the caption that comes with the picture as your picture description. You must use information you have researched as well as information from class to describe what is going on in the picture.
BE AS CREATIVE AS YOU CAN!!!
